A long time friend of mine, Jorge Tecunolmos recently discovered a hidden talent while helping to paint and decorate when his church  built a new building last year. Since then, he has painted over 30 original works of art and has been blowing up the art scene locally and across the U.S. He is now being commissioned to paint for folks as fas away as out West and has one painting for sale in an Ohio Art gallery. When Jorge approached me about doing some photography of his paintings for a new website he is having made I was super excited! Jorge is such a blessing and so extremely talented. I know he is going to go very far with his Art!

I am also proud to say that I have a Jorge E. Tecunolmos original hanging in my house :)
Thanks Jorge, you rock!

Miss Brittany Bradshaw (a friend of mine & stylist from Simply Irresistible Salon) and her man Keith came in today for a session. They are such a good looking pair!

I am so slow on blogging sometimes !

I did a very special Engagement session back on December 21st.

Tyler is a friend of a friend(s) and I’ve known him for years, awesome guy! He is living in Morgantown now attending college and when I found out he was about to propose to his girlfriend Haleigh, I knew we had to come up with something awesome! His best friend Logan (one of my Wedding assistants) and I both suggested he purpose during the photo shoot so that it could all be captured in images! I came up with this idea for him to somehow make a sign out of lights and set it up in a park. Tyler was able to rig up a pretty cool sign and the day of the shoot Logan tagged along while I took Tyler and Haleigh around to a few different locations to shoot. To wrap up the shoot, we headed toward Parkersburg City Park intending to shoot some images with the Christmas light displays as a backdrop and our plan went into action. Logan made up a reason why he needed to leave for a few, meanwhile Tyler, Haleigh and I stopped at Wendy’s to grab a bite to eat. Logan went to City Park and set up the sign (sneaking by security as not to get caught while he actually had to unplug one of the park Christmas light displays to power up the sign)!

After Logan texted to say he was almost finished setting up the sign, the rest of us headed over to the park. Haleigh had no clue that Logan was there. I took the couple around the park and did some shots to distract Haleigh a little longer while Logan finished up. When he was finally done, we started heading in the direction of the sign. Once we were just feet from the sign, I took Tyler aside and said he should blindfold her so he made up some random shot he told her we were going to try just for kicks and convinced her that she needed to be blindfolded. She went along without question because, well, Tyler is always doing silly and random things!

Tyler led Haleigh over to the location of the sign with the blindfold on and started saying really sweet things to her and then he went down on one knee and had her take the blindfold off and look to her right, there was the sign “Marry Me!” Her face was priceless and I am so excited that I was there not only to capture it all for them but also to witness such a romantic and special moment! It just doesn’t get much more sweeter than that!

Congrats Tyler and Haleigh!

Heather came in for her Senior pics on Jan. 17th and even brought her BFF for a few shots!

Dr. Tomlinson from St. Joseph’s Hospital recently had me do some photography for him that will soon be displayed in his office. What a beautiful family he has!

This is something I have been thinking of doing for quite some time now. I get asked often if I offer instruction or allow shadowing. I am putting this out there for anyone who is serious about becoming a photographer, bettering their knowledge of photography, needs camera instruction (Nikon DSLRs only), wants to do a practice photo shoot with me, or would like a portfolio critique. I offer 2 hour Mentor sessions, and can travel out of town with travel costs factored in.

Click here for more details on these Mentor sessions….
As I reflect on how awesome this new year has already been thus far, I feel pretty dang amazing and inspired! Things are rolling at the studio, I am offering new products this year, and have big things planned! I have so many ideas flowing through my mind and am daydreaming a lot lately. I have also been trying to take more time for myself and the things I enjoy outside of photography and running a business. A little tlc is good for the soul.

I feel like my passion for what I do has somehow been refreshed, and for an artist that is always a wonderful thing. Sometimes things can become very mundane. As a photographer, sometimes it can feel like no matter how creative you think you are with your ideas, composition, or processing technique, there is always someone out there more creative than you, and better than you. However, what I so appreciate the more I am in this industry is the fact that all photographers are different in the way they see things. You can give the same shooting assignment to 5 different photographers and end up with 5 very different images. It amazes me and thrills me to know that my photographic vision is unique. It also inspires me to dig even deeper when my clients, friends, and pals in the industry appreciate that unique vision. (rambling)

Back to what I was saying, about 2011 that is… it’s going to be an awesome year. 2011 has so much to offer! It’s happening already, can you feel it?
Reading this awesome book right now…

“In this book you will come to understand that all it takes is just one thing to change your relationships, money, health, happiness, career, and your entire life.

Every discovery, invention, and human creation comes from The Power. Perfect health, incredible relationships, a career you love, a life filled with happiness, and the money you need to be, do, and have everything you want, all come from The Power.

The life of your dreams has always been closer to you than you realized, because The Power – to have everything good in your life — is inside you.
To create anything, to change anything, all it takes is just one thing…THE POWER.”
Connor came in on Jan. 4th for his inside pics, brought his big sister Dacia along too! I love that family, such nice people!

I came across a great article on another photographer’s blog and had to share this quote:

“We aren’t important, but our work is. Love what you do and do it well, and you will spend a lifetime crafting the memories and social histories of people on the most important days of their lives. You will take photos that make children gape in amazement that their parents were so beautiful, you will take photos that will be laid with people in their caskets, you will take photos that can make people cry even if they don’t know the people in them.” –Ryan Brenizer
